Well, welcome to the site. I will not begin with a life story so lets she what today is?

1892 - Thomas Edison patents his two-way telegraph.
1936 - Jessie Owens becomes the first American to win four gold Medals in one Olympics.
1944 - Posters are released showing Smokey the Bear for the first time.
1945 - The atomic bomb named "Fat Man" is detonated over Nagasaki, Japan.
1974 - United States President Richard Nixon becomes first U.S. President to resign from office.
1999 - Russian President Boris Yeltsin fires his Prime Minister, and, for the fourth time, his cabinet.
